"In
Dublin's fair city, o' Jo sang a ditty, she went into town,
god, all on her own?"
Yep,
tis true, I took the bus from Jeni's road, Killenarden Heights
into Dublin City at 2.30pm for a little shopping and of course
sight seeing. I didn't have any change when I boarded the
bus and nobody had change for a fiver... I did ask. There
was however a lady with her daughter who very kindly gave
me €1.90 for my fare. Thanks again missus, I'm very greatful!
I didn't know I had to have the right change. Stupid bus driver
man sounded kinda grumpy....
I had the most amazing view from the top of the Dublin double decker bus. As the journey brought me closer to Dublin City the houses became bigger and more elaborate. There were spread out green areas with gorgeous houses and then there were squished ones with less greenery, more shops, lots more traffic and then BAM! Out onto the quays and down the big streets of Dublin and all her glory.
Lost
& The Shops...
After what felt like forever, but was only about 40 minutes
or a bit more, I arrived on Eden Quay and started my little
self tour of Dublin. Liam had drawn me a map, but I didn't
use it and of course I got lost. I found a little crafty celtic shop
though, so I didn't panic. It wasn't a total waste of time.
I
did find my bearings again after a few moments of thinking
and a fair bit of walking, which led me back to O'Connell
street. This is where I took most of the photos you will see
below. By this time it was getting cold, so I trooped on into
Carroll's Irish Gifts, which I visited 3 years ago, and bought
myself a spankin new 'Ireland' hoodie. It's a really nice
one too! I love Carrolls, it has loads and loads of Irish
stuff. I got some magnets for the fridge at home and a badge
to sew on my suitcase as well.
Next thing on the agenda was food. I was starving hungry and
had generated the biggest headache and eyestrain I ever did
encounter. Food and a few Panadol. I found some in a Chemist
and then hunted for the next well known takeaway place I could
see. McDonalds.... not my favourite but better than nothing
lol. I had the ould faithful McChicken meal. A few bits of
ice from my fanta helped my headache too. There's nothing
better than super cold water on your head.
I
finished my food and bought a Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry on
the way out. It went for a walk with me up and down O'Connell
Street taking photos of things that looked interesting. I
was buggered by then and had decided to go get the bus back
to Killenarden. I walked back to Eden Quay and asked one of
the bus drivers where to get the bus that goes back to Tallaght.
Home,
Sunny Jim...
On
the way to the Trinity College Green to catch the bus I grabbed
a Tiffin (which is like Hedgehog) and a Pepsi Max from a little
shop and changed €2 into bus money. I made sure I had
the right change this time. The first bus to come around ended
up pretty full, so I waited for the next one, which was totally
the wrong thing to do, because I ended up getting lost. I
missed the stop for Killenarden so the bus driver brought
me back around and dropped me at a place which I didn't recognise,
but it was definitely Killenarden. I was just a wee bit scared.
After
a little while of trying to figure out where to go, I bit
the bullet and called Liam. "I'm really tired and I'm
really lost!" He told me to find a landmark but I couldn't
see one, so I told him I was in Killenarden estate. He had
no idea where I was. Both he and Jeni came looking for me.
Liam drove past me and Jeni knew exactly where to find me.
When I got in her car she called me a silly bitch for getting
the wrong bus, but I wasn't at all far away just around the
corner really. Silly Jo Jo.
