"If Luck wasn't involved, I'd win every time"
Phil Hellmuth
On this page you will see the stats and results of the recent poker games between me and my boys. I will keep track of who has won the most money and probably complain about the most recent way I got burnt on the river.
Hand of the Week 2/26/05- John gets back on track- After a long struggle of games vs my closest friends, (Gary, Mike, Billy etc) I finally won a game against them for the first time in a while and it took a lot of luck to do it.  It was down to a heads up match between myself and Billy when I was dealt 9,4 off and he was dealt pocket 7's.  A 9 and a 7 come out on the flop.   Billy bet out 30 with the blinds at 10, 20.  I called and the turn came out a 4 giving me two pair.  Billy then declared he was all in with his set and I quickly called with my two pair.   He turned his cards at over and it looked as if I was gonna fall short once again.  Now a 9 and only a 9 could save me here.  If a 4 came out that would give me a full house but it would give Billy a higher one.  I had about a 5% chance of winning the hand, being that only two cards could help me.    However, luck was finally on my side and a 9 did come out!  After that, Billy was in a terrible shape and I won a few hands later.  I then celebrated by drinking shots of Jagermeister and eating Taco Bell.  What a great night.

Hand of the Week 2/10/05
- Perfect Timing- I was playing another game at Billy Cloghessy's house yesterday when it seemed like things couldn't get any better for me.  Early in the game, I'm dealt pocket aces in the first postion.  Being that I was in first position, I limped in, hoping that someone would raise me so I could re- raise them. Just as I had hoped, Cloghessy decides to raise the bb 4x with king jack of clubs.  But it gets even better.  Mike Uzenski's goes all in with pocket 10's.  I couldn't have called quicker.  Billy folded his hand and my aces held up for a huge win.  Then just a few hands later I get another player to go all in in front of me with Ace, 6 of diamonds.  I was sitting in the BB with Kings.  Needless to say I called his all in and my kings held up this time as well.  So in just a few hands I built a dominating chip lead thanks to some perfect timing.  However,  despite my big chip lead, I finished out of the money.

Hand of the Week- 1/31/05-
Flush vs. Straight Flush- I was playing a $20 dollar buy in tournament at Billy Cloghessy's house, a former teammate of mine, when I witnessed the following hand.  I don't remember the blinds but they were pretty high.  Anway, Cloghessy limped in with Kd, 2d in first position when Mike Uzenski (another former teammate of mine) doubled the blind with 5d 5h.  Everyone else folded and Billy decided to call.  The flop came out 4d, 6d,Qc.  Cloghessy who is on a flush draw decides to go all in and try to take the pot down.  Uzenkis decides to call with his pair of five's.  The 7d comes out on the turn giving Billy his flush.  However, the 7d still gave Uzenski a chance.  It gave him a straight flush draw. A 3d or 8d would give him a straight flush.  In other words only 2 cards out of the remaining 42 would help him.  Sure enough a 3d comes out giving him the straight flush. and the chip lead. That was just one of the many bad beats Billy Cloghessy had in that game. There was another hand where he flopped a straight but I had flopped a higher straight and doubled up.  If your curious,  I came in second that game and won 20 bucks.  We then played another game and I won this time winning 80 bucks for a total winnings of 100 dollars for the night.  C'mon!
