Minor Earth Major Sky
Album review:
A-ha are back! Those three words sound like  a symphony when I hear them. Ahh...
Well anyway. The album is above expections, kind of. Some songs are really catchy and touching, and some songs are a bit boring. The funny thing is that they have taken a step back to the earlier style. That is only good in my opinion, but it will never sell well (trust me on this one). Too bad... Because many songs are quite good. Of course there are mistakes on the album. Four exemples:
1. Boogieman was a bad choice. Beacause his songs are overproduced.
2. The drums are way too flat.
3. Velvets tempo is slower. It turns into a lullaby instead of a cool pop song.
4. Lauren Savoy is involved.
Still a good album of course.  6 p
Minor Earth Major Sky
Well I am a bit shattered. This one is kinda rough and cool. But it isnt especially touching, if you understand what I mean. It is also way too long. But this one is very a-ha-ish and different from earlier works from the previous albums, and that makes it slightly more modern than the rest (a tip: the black dog mix on the single is much better than this album version).  6 p

Little Black Heart
The song has nice guitar parts, but lacks the highlights to become classical. The intro sounds just like "Slender frame", apart from the piano that is.  5 p

Velvet
A-has second cover. Its very melodious and calm. A plus for the female vocal that pops up some times. But the minus is that Savoys version is faster and a little bit better than this lullaby (a good one though).  6 p

Summer Moved On

The albums best song and the song that indicates a-has comeback. And only that makes it worth listening to, but thats not the only reason of course. Mortens 18 second aaaasssk is impressive.  9 p

The Sun Never Shone That Day
A cool song... even though it sounds flat.  5 p

To Let You Win
Mmmmm... Morten Harket ladies and gentlemen! The best singer alive. He turns this charming song into a good tune.. The song needs some listening though.  6 p

The Company Man
Well, this isnt my taste at all. Its to funky. Its a lame motivation, I know, but...  3 p

Thought That It Was You
Mortens contribution to this album (his first for a-ha). And he makes a good effort! Its a soft song with once again good vocals and a very catchy refrain.  8 p

I Wish I Cared
Magnes contribution to the album and it is one of the highlights on this record. Perfect vocals mixed with good lyrics. Mortens razor sharp voice is just stunning!  9 p

Barely Hanging On

This song is good but require some listening though. But once you have heard it about 10 times it becomes one of a-has top 30 songs. Funny, this one sounds a bit like The Beatles, my second favourite band after a-ha.  6 p

Youll Never Get Over Me
This one grows on me. The beautiful melody is what makes this song so great, Thats all I can say. Lauren Sayoy does her first good job related to a-ha!  8 p

I Wont Forget Her

A song that has a catchy refain and cute lyrics. All in all a good pop song. Although the drums are a bit flat, dont you think?  7

Mary Ellen Makes The Moment Count

Sorry. This isnt my style at all. A quite boring song...  5 p
