| Album review: This album is unique in many ways, but there is one thing that makes this one extra special; Never before have an a-ha album had such a strong starting lineup. The first five songs are absolutely wonderful and gives the whole album a good touch. But then something happens, from track six to thirteen there is a slow down, almost every song is written by Paul and they all feel a little "Savoy". Some like this of course, but not me. But the last four songs are really nice and raises the album to another level. And there it stays, the top level, cause this is very modern and cool. After hearing the boring "Minor earth major sky" album you are really boosted by the energy found in this. Good producers, great beats, nice music and Morten has the lead vocal in Dragonfly. A very solid a-ha album all in all. The cover is the only thing that feels a bit wrong... 8 p |

| Lifelines The titlesong of the album is beautiful. It contain those two special things that makes a-ha songs so touching, melancholic singing and suberb music. So wonderful... The best song on the album. 9 p You Wanted More A new side of a-ha is shown here. The vibe of the song is high and the style fits a-ha very nice. The rough singing suits Morten (we have heard proof of that before in "Brodsky tune" from his solo album "Wild seed"). The refrain is very catchy. 8 p Forever Not Yours Not as strong startout single as "Summer moved on", but still a very solid song. Probably the most poppy song in the whole album, but of course not as poppy as in the early days. 8 p There's a Reason For It Slow and nice. 6 p Time & Again Pls best song on this album. Very sensitive singing by Morten and just wonderful lyrics. This song is like "Angel", you just have to like it. The only thing holding this one back from getting the 9 is that it is one minute too long. 8 p Did Anyone Approach You? Another cool song. Its really impressive how a-ha can variete themselves. 7 p Afternoon High Catchy and light, nothing more. 6 p Oranges On Appletrees I promise you will go and sing on this one all the day. Extremely catchy, funny lyrics, it just feels very unusual. Powerful singing by all three guys. Oh and a big plus for the last minute of the song, where the refrain changes from low to high. 8 p A Little Bit A very good song. 7 p Less Than Pure This isn't the sound of a-ha. Skip to the next track! 5 p Turn The Lights Down A true cliche. It does NOT make me feel romantic and it DOES NOT make me wanna turn the lights down. 5 p Cannot Hide This is a perfect example of a-ha songs that are neither good or bad. It is kind of sexy and dancefriendly though, that saves the grade. 5 p White Canvas So beautiful, one of the strongest ballads of the album. Clever lyrics and a Morten in top shape. The refrain is very romantic... 8 p Dragonfly Much better than Magnes original version. Soft guitars and Mortens clear voice...what a combination! I also recommend you to see the excellent movie "Dragonfly" where the song is featured in the ending credits. 8 p Solace Neither good or bad. The strings are nice but the song is too slow. Magne can really write better things... 5 p |
