| September 19th 2000: Party, St Albans Line up: Simon,Matt,Richard,Claire Set List: Best when pissed You Sincerely Sexy You're so thick you're proud of it Hitchin' a ride Tainted Love Performance: A good performance, but the crowd was not the right sort, it consisted of the loyal fans, as well as garage and house fans, not the right place for this 4 piece, but loyal fans saw what they wanted, a quality set list, well performed |
February 20th 2001: Harlow Square Rock Contest 1st Round Line up: Simon,Matt,Richard,Ben Opposition: Fruit Tree, Confusion to the Enemy. Set List: Oxo Cube You You're so thick you're proud of it Sincerely Sexy Hitchin' a ride Tainted Love Performance: Very good, the addition of Ben strengthed the group alot and played with vast confidence for an up and coming band. Were not really threatened by the other groups. Best crowd reaction to tainted love, but in my oppinion best performed was Sincerely Sexy. Johnny Fontaine go through easily on the Judges vote, but also obtaining the highest votes with 67. |
April 10th 2001: Harlow Square Rock Contest 2nd Round Line up: Simon,Matt,Richard,Ben Opposition: Viagra Falls, The postitives. Set List: Oxo Cube My Iron Lung You're So thick you're proud of it My mates nan plays poker for England Sincerely Sexy Tainted Love Performance: Drawn first on the night, performed Superbly, they could not be faulted technically. Crowd reaction was superb, in particular to the spiced up version of Radiohead's My Iron Lung. The debut of poker went down well, with everybody expecting a breather with the jazz styled beginning, but was anything but. The other competition on the night was of very good quality in particular Viagra falls who impressed the judges sufficiently to be placed above Johnny Fontaine on this occasion going through on the judges vote, with J.F and Viagra falls being chosen between by the judges. The positives did not impress, although obtaining a good crowd reaction, J.F inevitably went through on the audience votes getting the most votes in the whole competition so far. Onwards and upwards to May 15th for the semi final. |

| May 15th 2001: Harlow Square Rock Contest Semi Final Line up: Simon,Matt,Richard,Ben Opposition: Fruit Tree, Kneel Set List: Poker Oxo cube You're so thick you're proud of it New song about George double ya Bush Sincerely Sexy Tainted Love Performance: Drawn third on the night, playing after a new image from Fruit Tree, and a very good performance by Kneel, if a little underconfident for the technical ability in their hands. When it comes to JF the phrase, and i quote Shed 7 "its gettin better all the time" spring to mind. It was astounding to see a band with such confidence and sheer class after just 3 previous gigs. New song was a touch of class, well written with the perfect complementary music to go with it, JF showing once more what a talent they have for song writing, new song being written by Richard and Simon. The winning band on the night was based upon audience votes, and JF shined through with Kneel coming just behind, with Fruit Tree left behind in the dust, lost without their drums. On to the final June 2nd against Chemosh and Deff by Stereo. |
