Sean gets his big breakfast!
We also get to meet the other guest at the B+B. Tasey is a school teacher from Oakland Cali, who works with gang members, and other students who fall behind on their schoolwork. This is Tasey's second or third visit to the Alderberg, and her and Bernice leave together to go to the flea market. We settle up the bill, Sean buys a quilt, and we are on the road again.
Not long after we leave the road seems to be littered with bikers. We pass through Gander, after stopping at the North Atlantic Aviation Museum, and every motel parking lot is filled with motorcycles. I've died and gone to little Laconia. We passed through during the Ride for Sight, a rally put on by the Foundation Fighting Blindness Canada. We stop east of Gander for gas and chat with some of the people headed to the rally.
Shortly afterwards it starts to rain, knock on wood, but this is the first significant rain we have seen thusfar. Of course I'm not dressed properly so now I'm cold and wet, but were so close to St John's that we just push on. The rain lets up a bit, we get into town, get a room at the Prescott Inn B+B, and I get a much needed shower.
Saturday night St John's Newfoundland
More bars per capita than any other place on the continent :) Duckworth, Water, and George Streets Bars Bars everywhere. George Street is the epicenter, is closed to vehicle traffic, and has a stage and seating for live bands. The weather threatens on and off with rain, but we do get to catch an Irish band. The band was pretty good and so was the older guy dancing on stage.
Later while walking down Duckworth st we run into a guy from NH who came up here on a Goldwing. He was eating in the same restaurant that we were and apparently one of his sons friends looks a lot like me. We talk for a while and he asks to take my picture to show his son. My first modeling gig, Woohoo. He gets a picture of Sean and I, and we had back to the room.
