Welcome to Newfoundland

Thurs July 5 2001
St Martin's NB to Nashua NH
437 Miles

Well they say all good things must come to an end. I often reflect upon a fun vacation and try to convince myself that if I could live on vacation that it would be somehow less spectacular. It doesnt make it any less upsetting that that in 3 days I'll be back at work again, and planning my next vacation. They say that the tides in the Bay of Fundy are the highest in contrast of any tides in the world. This is evident in St Martins with all of the boats that are sitting on the muddy bottom of the coves in the area.
We regretfully head towards St John, Maine, then home.

We stop at St Stephen at the Ganong chocolate factory/museum. Well I do need gifts for the people back home right? Sean spends way to much on chocolate, he needs help!

Ahh the border crossing!
It was the easiest boarder crossing I've ever had, yet I still feel slighted. The guard is in his shack talking to someone so he waves the 2 cars in front of me through. He takes one look at me and decides I'm not a wave through kind of person.
Where are you headed?
NH
Why?
Because I live there
I get the ZZ Top wave through
Then Sean who is behing me just gets waved through. It must be my rugged good looks that put some people on the defensive when they run into me. Maine signals the start of helmet freedom woohoo.

The day started out foggy, and overcast, then in Maine the sun came out and it got hot. We stopped for gas in Augusta and the sky opened up. This might be a good time to take a lunch break. By the time we finished up at the Olive Garden the sun was back out and our bikes were dry.

I waved goodbye to Sean at the Hampton toll plaza, and rode the 45 minutes home for a much needed shower, and to curl up in my waterbed.
