| Multi-Engine Airplane Pilot | |||||
| The student is required to take only a practical (oral and flight) test to receive a Multi-Engine Pilot rating (add on). The practical test is pass/fail.
The Multi-Engine rating can be simply Private Pilot but most people also get an Instrument rating and many also get a Commercial rating in addition. Since there are several ways to attain the Multi-Engine rating and several additional ratings that may be acquired the information below is not complete for all cases. It covers only a Private pilot who has a Single Engine rating adding the Multi-Engine rating (add-on). Alternatives can be extracted from the FARs or we can talk about it, Multi-Engine Pilot - Checklist Eligibility 61.103 17 years old 61.39.a.5; 61.103.a Read speak write and understand English 61.103.c Endorsements 61.103.d Receive required training and endorsements 61.103.f Experience 61.103.g Practical test in category & class 61.103.h Training in preparation for practical test (log) 61.109.a.4 At least 3rd class medical 61.39.a.4 Completed, signed 8710 form 61.39.a.7 Experience 61.63.c.4 Need not meet the specified training time requirements prescribed by this part that apply to the pilot certificate for the aircraft class rating sought Endorsements Log flights and ground for practical (log) 61.63.c.1, 61.63.c.2, 61.109.b.4 Log training time in previous 60 days for practical (log) 61.39.a.6.i, ii; 61.103.f Flight practical test (log) 61.63.c.3; 61.107.b.2 <<<PREVIOUS RATING HOME NEXT RATING>>> |
