| The information below is what you'll need to have to be eligible to take the Commercial Pilot Practical test. The numbers after the text lines are the FAR sections in which the requirement is specified. Under endorsements, "log" indicates the endorsement must be in the students log book. NOTE: The practical test for this rating must be done in a "complex" airplane. The FAA defines a complex airplane as one having retractable landing gear, a constant speed propeller and flaps (the flaps requirement is not an issue since most airplanes today have flaps). The student is required to take both a knowledge (on a computer) test and a practical (oral and flight) test to receive a Commercial Pilot rating. The passing score on the knowledge test is 70%. The practical test is pass/fail.
