Geo-Political Guide to Tandril
Billien
Regent: Count Byron Billien
Duchy: Lanek
Population (est.): 800
Area (est.):850 sq. mi.
Notes: The Billien House is one of the Lanek's oldest allies. The
Duke regards the aging count of Billien as wizened advisor as was a good friend
of his father. The count's heir apparent is his son William and he is
ready to take his place when the time comes. William is also one of the
most eligible bachelors in the Duchy of Lanek and the Duke may be eying him to
marry one of his daughters.
Birchwood
Regent: Count Corbin Lanek (Ftr 4/Art 4)
Duchy: Lanek
Population (est.): 1,000
Area (est.): 1,500 sq. mi.
Notes: Count Lanek is a cousin of the Duke, and the Duke holds him as a
brother. Birchwood is the largest source of timber for the Duchy as its
source is fairly well tamed.
Branhill
Regent:
Duchy: Lantan
Population (est.):
Area (est.): 1200 sq. mi.
Notes:
Briarwood
Regent: Count Malus Durvan
Duchy:
Population (est.): 600
Area (est.): 900 sq. mi.
Notes: The Briarwood was nothing more than an untamed wilderness before
the guilder count Malus Durvan was granted the land by the Duke of Stanek in
2395. In the six years since then, the county has become Tandril's premier
exporter of both raw lumber and furniture, enriching both the Count's and Duke's
coffers.
Carlan
Regent:
Duchy: Manlan
Population (est.):
Area (est.): 850 sq. mi.
Notes:
Denton
Regent: Count Geoffrey Lantan (Morlan) (Rog 2/Art 4)
Duchy: Lantan
Population (est.): 500
Area (est.): 480 sq. mi.
Notes: Count Geoffrey is the brother to the current Count of Morlan, being
the second son he was not to inherit the regency, but lucky for him he caught
the eye of Denton's former count and saw to it that he married his
granddaughter.
Eltanin
Regent: Count-Magus Gregor Eltanin (Wiz 15)
Duchy: Manlan
Population (est.): 250
Area (est.):
Notes: The count also serves as Magus for Duke Eltanin and is perhaps the
most respected wizard in Tandril, though the general populace are superstitious
regarding him.
Lanek Duchy Proper
Regent: Duke Miles Lanek (Ftr 6/Art 7)
Duchy: Lanek
Population (est.): 12,000
Area (est.): 2,400 sq. mi.
Notes: The Duke is beginning to worry about an heir as he has only two
daughters and his wife is no longer able to bear children. Though he is
confident of his daughters skills, no woman has officially ruled over the Lanek
Duchy in the past and he is reluctant to let that responsibility fall to his
daughters. He has his eyes open for suitors and there are no shortage of
them for such a prestigious position.
Lantan Duchy Proper
Regent: Archduke Ambrose Lantan III
Duchy: Lantan
Population (est.):
Area (est.):
Notes: The Lantan House holds the crown, thus allowing Ambrose the title of
Archduke (first among the Dukes). His father Ambrose II rules over
Tandril.

Mierlien (Lalien)
Regent: Count Eaton Mierlien (Rog 5/Art 5)
Duchy: Lanek
Population (est.): 3,400
Area (est.): 1500 sq. mi.
Notes: Eaton is a guilder count, a merchant who used his wealth to buy him
a county. In Mierlien's case it was with Pearls harvested from the Great
Bay. He actually inherited the trade from four generations of Mierlien's
who served to put the town on the map, and thus had it renamed in their honor
several decades ago. The county of Mierlien was given to Eaton Mierlien by
Duke Lanek when the former count proved inept at running the then named County
of Lalien. Over the past 10 years of his rule, Count Mierlien has grown
quite favored in the eyes of Duke Lanek.
Morlan
Regent: Patrick Morlan (Brd 3/Art 3)
Duchy: Stanek
Population (est.):
Area (est.):
Notes:
Oxlam
Regent: Declan the Protector (Scr 10)
Duchy: Lanek
Population (est.): 500
Area (est.): 730 sq. mi.
Notes: Oxlam is one for the few counties where the regent is a sorcerer.
Roughly 30 years ago the then count of Oxlam was killed by wolves in the Untamed
lands. The wolves had been killing off much of the county's livestock and
threaten its livelihood. The sorcerer, unknown at that time, approached
Duke Lanek with the proposition that he could keep it safe, though he was not
confident that the then young and unknown sorcerer could succeed the Duke had
few options. Since then Declan has ruled more or less unchallenged and has
kept the peace and the wolves at bay. The Duke's wizard Halek is both
jealous and suspicious of the count's success, however. The people of the
county still raise primarily livestock, it's name is actually derived from ox
and lamb. It is rumored that Declan is very close to the Countess of
Tierlien.
Quentil
Regent: Count Keifer Manlan (Rgr 12)
Duchy: Manlan
Population (est.): 200
Area (est.): 300 sq. mi.
Notes: This smallest county in both size and population is ruled by the
Duke's younger brother. One of the few redeamable qualities of Quentil is
that the count is arguably Tandril's greatest huntsman. Another is the
wizard Alger Eltanin (Wiz 7) whom his uncle, Count Gregor, has entrusted the study of the
Tandril Wilderness.
Seaport
Regent:
Duchy:
Population (est.):
Area (est.):
Notes: Seaport is unique in that it does not belong to any of the four
duchies.
Stanek Duchy Proper
Regent: Brassilius Stanek (Ftr 6/ Art 4/ Weaponmaster 4)
Duchy: Stanek
Population (est.):
Area (est.):
Notes:

Regent: King Ambrose II (Ftr 6/Art 8)
Duchy: N/A

Area (est.):
Notes:
Tierlien
Regent: Countess Olivia Tierlien (Art 8)
Duchy: Lanek
Population (est.): 600
Area (est.): 750 sq. mi.
Notes: Olivia inherited the regency from her father as he had no male
heirs and wished that his daughter take his place. She is well loved among
her people and is steadfast in protecting them from the beasts of the untamed
lands. It is rumored that her and Declan of Oxlam are very close.
Wheatley
Regent: Count Richard Lantan (Pal 4/Art 2)
Duchy: Lantan
Population (est.):
Area (est.): 900 sq. mi.
Notes: Richard is the second son of the and as is tradition he shall rule
Wheatley until the next Lantan monarch produces an a second son to take
Wheatley. If it should not happen, the regency shall pass down to
Richard's offspring until tradition once again begs the second son to replace
him. Count Richard is a devout follower of Palad whereas traditionally the
Lantan house is polytheistic. If the Aaslan crusade meets with much
success, Richard stands a lot to gain if he values Palad above his family.
