8/27/2001 - I wrote this after hearing that my cousin Chris Mattis passed away.

I have been writing for as long as I can remember. I first started writing on my Commodore 64, using some word processor whose name I cannot remember. Later, I wrote on an electric typewriter that my mother purchased me. Eventually I persuaded my parents to purchase a Macintosh LC. After I found myself gainful employment, I purchased a Quadra 660AV, and while in college, I upgraded to a beige G3. All the while I've been writing, though, and searching for that ultimate, definitive work - a piece of writing that I could leave behind after I am dead, a tribute to myself and all of my influences...

But so far, that Holy Grail of writing has eluded me...

So, the shit on this page will have to suffice. My writing interests are about as broad as my reading interests, but I think that it is fair to say that I lean towards science fiction and fantasy. I write poetry, fiction, non-fiction, philosphical ramblings, and anything else that I am inspired to write. Lately, I've been working on a novel, though I'm not really optimistic about it - I simply feel the urge to dash off a complete work of fiction for the first time in my life, rather than let the idea rot on the vine like so many of my ideas have.

So, the following option are available (this will be made into a sexy graphical menu as soon as I have the time, just like everything else on this website):

Selections from an honors composition class I took a couple of years ago:

Composition 1011
Jacob Wilson
Pain
The Brook
Valentine's Day

This is some random stuff that I pulled off my computer. Not the best of the best, by any means, but whatever.

Quit While You're Ahead
The Trooper

A couple of years ago, I decided I wanted to wrote a novel. So, I started gushing words onto my computer, and this is the result. I'm not sure if it is a preface to a novel, or the first chapter of a novel, or what. I do know that somewhere there is a second chapter, I just haven't found it. In any case, here it is.

Garnog's Quest

Recently, I have been working on another novel, that is based in the same world, and the same events, but seen from a different perspective. It is quite a bit longer. I'm not sure if this will ultimately be put into the same novel (it could be) or what. I just wanted to write something.
