The Deposition of Edmund Norris

At the same time also appeared Edmund Norris after being duly sworn before us the Justices aforesaid on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God Concerning the Premises above said Deponent and saith that when the Deponent became acquainted with Joseph Fogle and Adam Fogle his Brother that these two Brothers were living together on the Plantation above described and mentioned in the foregoing Deposition that about the year Seventeen Hundred Eighty six or five said Adam Fogle was then living together with his Brother on the said Plantation when he this Deponent was informed by Ad am Fogle and Joseph Fogle aforesaid that they were to go halves and Equal shares in all the Estate of both the said Brothers after Adam Fogles debts was paid.  That the said Brothers worked on so for sometime and in the time of harvest they two Brothers differed and the said Adam Fogle taking offense he declined Labouring for the Season of the said Harvest time that this Joseph Fogle aforesaid told his Brother Adam that if he did not choose to work on the Plantation he might go and do as he pleased and that he the said Joseph Fogle would Settle and pay him the said Adam what was coming to him for the Estate and this said Adam did not leave the place but when Harvest was ended went to work again as usual and Continued on working on the said Plantation that some time after the Dispute aforesaid the said Adam Fogle Bought a Negro in the absence of his Brother Joseph.  The Negro this Deponent cannot n ame nor describe being so long Since, his memory does not serve but recollects that Joseph Fogle when he returned home was much dissatisfied at the Purchase and said it was taking too much money from them at that time and thought they had time Enough before they went to Kentucky to purchase Negros that he this Deponent had a opportunity of Knowing a good deal of their Concerns have lived as a Labourer on the said Farm or Plantation aforesaid three years off and on and that he Considered Joseph Fogle to be the Principle Manager on the said plantation and further this Deponent saith not----
