Julia Stevens

1915-2003

Julia H. Mulkey Stevens of Russell Street, Ashland, KY, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at her residence. She was 87 years of age.

Born Feb. 15, 1915 in Cherokee, KY, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mattie Foster Mulkey.

Mrs. Stevens worked as a clerk in Freedman's Department Store in Catlettsburg, KY.

She is survived by her husband, John R. Stevens; two sons, James Stevens and his wife, Anna, of Ashland and Lawrence Stevens and his wife, Gay, of Catlettsburg; one daughter, Johnna Manning, and her husband, Emmett, of Ashland; one brother, Earnest of Wenatchee, Wash.; one sister, Imogene Clifton of Melbourne, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by two sons, Mickey Stevens and Bill J. Stevens; four brothers, Walter Mulkey, Glen Mulkey, Ballard Mulkey and Lovell Mulkey; and one sister, Erma Harris.

A memorial graveside service will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Catlettsburg Cemetery and officiated by Bill Spears.

Kilgore & Colliers Funeral Home in Catlettsburg is in charge of arrangements.

Imogene Stewart

Sept. 13, 1920-Oct. 28, 2001

ROCK HOLLOW-Imogene Stewart Mulkey Higgins, 81, of Rock Hollow (Ironton) died Sunday at her home. The Ashland, Ky., native was born Sept. 13, 1920, the daughter of the late John and Grace Fannin Stewart.

She was the wife of the late Franklin Higgins.

She was a housewife and a member of God's Holiness Mission Church of Ironton.

She was also preceded in death by her first husband, John Ballard Mulkey; three brothers, Ray Stewart, Edgar Stewart and Elmer Lee Stewart; and one great-grandson, Justin Holt.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Joyce Estes of Rock Hollow, and Donna and Dwight Stephens of Auberdale, Fla.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Harry and Linda Mulkey and Ralph and Genevieve Mulkey, all of Hanging Rock, Gerald and Nancy Mulkey of Bucyrus and Ballard and Emma Mulkey of South Vienna.

Lovell T. Mulkey, 70, of Catlettsburg, husband of Alyce Lynn McKenzie Mulkey, died Thursday in St. Mary's Hospital. He was a driver for OK Trucking Co. Also surviving are two sons, Bobby C. Chaffin of Huntington and Casey M. Chaffin of Lexington; four daughters, Donna Faye Rice, Jennifer Hicks, Tammy S. Williams and Rebecca T. Hatfield, all of Ashland; one brother, Earnest Mulkey of Billingham, Wash.; and two sisters, Julia Stevens, of Lexington, and Imogene Clifton, of Melbourne, FLa. Funeral 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Marshall Steen Funeral Home, Ashland; private burial. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Random acts of kindness should be done rather than send flowers.

Kathy Jean Waddell, 47, of Ironton died Tuesday at her home. The Ironton native was born Feb. 2, 1957, the daughter of Doris Jean Mulkey Hannon and the late Donald Gene Waddell. She was a homemaker and attended Central Christian Church and was a graduate of Ironton High School. She attended Ohio University and lived all her life in the area.

Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her step father, Glenn Hannon, of Ironton; three sons, Ronnie Pierce of Wheelersburg, and Michael and Derrick Waddell, both of Ironton; one daughter, Erica Waddell, of Ironton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Steve Smith and Carol and Brian Rideout, all of Ironton; one half-brother, Matthew Waddell, of Ashland, Ky; special friend, Larry Farmer of Ironton; grandmother, Cerina Mulkey, of Hanging Rock; and several aunts and uncles.

She was also preceeded in death by one son, Jeremy Copley; one daughter, Rene Copley; and a grandfather, Walter Mulkey.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Phillips Funeral Home, with Minister Alan Tison officiating. Burial will be in the Junior Furnace Cemetary. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Frank John Gallina, 69, of the town of Waukesha, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. Frank was born Oct. 31, 1932, in Milwaukee, a son of the late Frank G. and Margaret (nee Dwyer) Gallina. On April 3, 1954, he married Barbara Mulkey in Waukegan, Ill.

He was a great husband, father and grandfather, and was a devoted worker. He also loved his birds and his dog. Frank worked for the city of Waukesha for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He helped place voting machines and trained people how to run the machines. He was involved in scouting and was Pack 84 Cub Scout leader for many years. Frank was Jaime's and Justin's buddy. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Phillip; and three sisters, Marion Cisz, Margie Gallina and Kathleen Gallina.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara Gallina of the town of Waukesha; three sons, Brent J. (Mary) Gallina of Wales, Byron C. (Patti) Gallina of Belleville, Ill., and Mathew K. Gallina of Waukesha; along with two grandchildren, Jaime Gallina of Wales and Justin Bottomley of Fort Hood, Texas. He is also survived by his three brothers, Albert, Gregory and Thomas Gallina, all of Milwaukee; and his two sisters, Carol and Judith, both of Waukesha.

The funeral service for Frank will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home on Moreland Boulevard. The Rev. Dwight Bastian, co-pastor of First United Methodist Church in Waukesha, will be the officiant. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
