By road to Ayuthaya, some 90 km. north of Bangkok.  Ayuthaya was the ancient capital of Siam from 1350 to 1767 AD when it was completely destroyed by the invading Burmese army.  We explore the ruins of this historical park before visiting the lovely summer palace at Bang-Pa-In with its captivating collection of marvelous pavilions in a variety of Thai, Chinese, Italian and Victorian architectural styles.  Thereafter, we embark on a luxury boat and cruise down the Chao Phya River to Bangkok, a great way to observe the rural landscape and see life along the riverbanks.  International buffet lunch is served on board.

MEKHALA LEGENDARY CRUISE

An enchanting journey along the magnificent Chao Phya River aboard the legendary Mekhala, converted from a traditional teak rice barge. The Mekhala now graces the river as a unique floating hotel. There is no finer way to view the captivating way of life that exists on the "River of Kings".

Day 1 : (15.00 pm) - The Mekhala sets off up-river. Discover Bangkok landmarks before sunset. Dock for overnight stay at Wat Kai Tia. Enjoy a superb candle light dinner on deck. Spend the evening sharing stories, playing indoor games or simply enjoy a drink under the stars.

Day 2 :  Early morning traditional alms offerings to Buddhis monks. Leisurely breakfast on deck and a morning of sunbathing and relaxing. The Mekhala departs for Bang-Pa-In with a guided visit of the Summer Palace, then transfer by long-tail boat for an exhilarating 45 minutes ride to Ayuthaya. Thai lunch at a riverside restaurant. Guided visit around Ayuthaya's ancient ruins before returning to Bangkok by a/c mini-bus. Arrival at your hotel around 17.00 pm.

Day 1 :  Early morning pick-up from your hotel and depart by road for Kanchanaburi, visit Jeath War Museum, Allied Cemetery and the River Kwai Bridge.  Board a train for a historic ride on the Death Railway. After lunch, embark on a long-tail boat from the pier to the RIVER KWAI JUNGLE RAFTS. Later on, its a visit to the nearby ethnic Mon Tribal Village.  Dinner with a presentation of Mon dancing. (L+D)

Day 2 :  Breakfast. An exciting boat trip take us to visit the Hell Fire Pass Memorial. After lunch, transfer back to the pier and continue by road back to Bangkok. Drop-ff at your hotel in late afternoon. (B+L)
