British Rail Class 2 2-6-0 Mogul
Designed primarily to replace the many 0-6-0 light freight locomotives the Class 2s were the smallest tender locomotive to be built built by British Rail.  They were an aesthetically pleasing loco and were a modification of the Ivatt 2-6-2 tank engine.
The model was built from a DJH kit.
This locomotive was designed by Fairburn in the last days before the old London,  Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) was nationalised and became part of British Rail.  It was based on an earlier design by William Stanier.  Its smaller size and lighter weight gave it a far wider route availability.  Most of these locomotives were built by British rail and could be found working on most regions of  the railway system.

The model was built from a DJH kit with a DJH Sulzer motor equipped with a flywheel and a 25-1 gearbox
British Rail (ex Southern) 4-4-0 Schools
The Schools locomotive was initially designed by Maunsell in the nineteen thirties to work express trains down to Weymouth.  There were a lot of weight restrictions and a tight loading gauge on this line and the available express locomotives were too large and heavy to be used.  The Schools were designed by the simple expedient of cutting down a King Arthur 4-6-0 to a 4-4-0 and reducing the size of the cab resulting in an extremely powerful but light-weight three cylinder locomotive.  They were so successful that they were used all over the Southern Railway and lasted to the end of the steam era.

Midland Railway Brake, lavatory, third class carriage circa 1890 - 1900.
This is a well detailed model built from a Slaters kit with brass etched bogies and sprung buffers.  The model is presented as it would have appeared around the turn of the century.  Door handles and grab handles are cast brass and there is good internal detail.
