I met Robert Heinlein through Jubal Harshaw, just after I returned from the Army. Jubal and Heinlein were close friends, and Jubal got us together. I was excited about having my story written down. Harshaw, being a good writer himself, helped Heinlein write the rough draft, which was named A Martian Named Smith. I grokked that having Heinlein write my book, which he renamed Stranger in a Strange Land, was a good idea, so we got started right away. My book was published in 1961. If you click on my book, it will take you to some reviews.
At the time, I didn't know it, but Mr. Heinlein was himself a folk hero. Many people have written about his life and times, and so I have grokked the nesessity of including some of his personal information here.
