| 3rd Placing On the 4th of February, final night of the Malta Song for Europe 2006, TRILOGY with song THIS HEART OF MINE placed third to a 100% public televoting system. A back-up jury, called in case the televoting system missed also voted TRILOGY in third place, thus giving the song a winning place if a 50/50 system would have been used, as was the custom until 2 years ago. |

| First Prize in Varna, Bulgaria On the 21st May, TIME FOR LOVE, written by Joe Julian and composed by Paul Abela won the Discovery International Pop Music Festival in Varna, Bulgaria. The song, sung by Eleanor Spiteri and Roger Tirazona was judged in first place out of sixteen compositions by an international jury. |

| This prestigious song contest had competing the likes of Alexandra and Kostantin who represented Belarus in the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest, Italian Luca Sepe who participated in Sanremo twice along with singers from Spain, Turkey, Poland, Russia, Romania, Cyprus, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia & Montenegro, Uzbekistan and Bulgaria itself. This is the second time Joe Julian won the Bulgarian festival, having won the same prize in 2003. |
| Finalists announced. The final night of this contest, organised every year on the occasion of Malta's independence, will be held on the 18th of September at the Floriana Granaries and will be broadcast live on Net Television. FIL-FOND TAL-QALB, song number 15, will be Joe Julian's entry, composed by Paul Abela and sung by Olivia Lewis. |

| It was very emotional, to say the least, to listen to singers Mary Spiteri, Renato and Georgina singing a song praising Our Lady in front of a packed town square in Ghaxaq. St. Mary's statue was being carried shoulder high on the way into her church after restoration, as the crowd was surprised by the three singers who appeared on the club balcony singing the new anthem/song "MARIJA", composed for the occasion by Paul Abela and penned by Joe Julian Farrugia. |
