"The Puzzle of Life"

This is a little inspirational story I wrote for everyone who has ever helped me. I think it is very much the truth. Never leave a puzzle unfinished...

Picture this: You're sitting at your coffee table. Alone, you decide to start a puzzle. You break out the box, and excited, you dump all the pieces on the table. What a mess, right? But in your high spirits, you start, as with most puzzles, at the border. You find all pieces that belong around the edge and focus totally on that part. Soon, you see the enormity of the project that has only just begun. Through the course of your enigmatic journey, some people come to help, then leave... adding a few pieces to your jigsaw and aiding your ability to see the full picture. Some of these people will merely toss a piece or two in the vague direction they believe it should go, while others will thoroughly and persistently help you with a huge chunk of the puzzle. Some may come back and forth, helping you between other things they have to do, and others will only be of assistance one time, and once alone. Sometimes, you may feel like giving up and breaking the puzzle up again to box it away.

Now, step back and picture this scenario from a different aspect. Look at the puzzle as your life... your character... your persona. Think of the aides that helped as your family, friends, and everyone you love (even some you may not), helping you fit together the pieces of your life. These people may come into your life for only a short while, maybe come in and out of your life several times, or stay in your life for the best, or the most trying, times of your life. In any case, they will help piece together the different parts of you to make you who you are.

Right now, I know where the progress of my enigma stands. I am currently working on one particular corner; this corner so far has a vague resemblance to a tasseled string attached to a square cap. This is one of the most important parts of my puzzle, and I do not want to leave it unfinished. You have all contributed your pieces or chunks, and for that, I kowtow to you all. I thank every one of you for what you have done and will do. Know that forever, my life contains a part of each of you. So, think about this the next time you are constructing a puzzle, piece by piece, and sit back and smile, because you've helped with so many immensely huge puzzles, and aided in the making of yet another person.
