*Sega's has released the names of its new designated studios here they are:

1. Sonic Team + United Game Artists = Sonic Team.

2. Hitmaker + Sega Rosso = Hitmaker.

3. Wow Entertainment + Overworks = Wow Works (tentative name).

4. Amusement Vision + Smilebit (main staff) = Amusement Vision.

5. Sega-AM2 = Sega-AM2.

6. Smilebit (sports staff) + Amusement Vision (portion) = Smilebit.

*Sega recently revealed their sales performance for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2004 (April to June).  According to news service Bloomberg, Sega sold 1.45 million units of home software worldwide, exceeding their target of selling 1.22 million units of software in the April to June quarter.  Sega's plan to consolidate their 9 development studios down to 5 while establishing 2 new ones has come true. According to Japanese newspaper Mainichi Interactive, Sega will be merging their R&D houses as follows:

* Sonic Team + United Game Artists
Focus: Develop games for beginners and younger gamers.

* Hitmaker + Sega Rosso
Focus: Develop original games in new types of genres.

* Wow Entertainment + Overworks
Focus: Develop games for all ages for current and next-generation platforms.

* Amusement Vision + Smilebit
Focus: Develop games that use and rely on movies (FMV and CG).

* Sega-AM2
Focus: Develop fighting games and games for advanced/hardcore gamers.

* "New Studio" #1 (Created from Amusement Vision and Smilebit staff)
Focus: Develop sports games.

* "New Studio" #2 (Created by Sega-AM2 staff; headed by Yu Suzuki)
Focus: Develop high-profile games, hit series, and arcade titles.

Sega will also create a company that will manage these merged studios and finances. It is unknown at this time if Sega will assign new names for these merged studios.7/27/03*

*NEC Interchannel announced that their popular PC game Snow will be released September 25th 2003.  NEC has stated that as long as its Dreamcast efforts sell, it will continue to support the system.  Sega also has confirmed that it will continue its DoriKore (abbreviated Japanese for "Dreamcast Collection") line of games with four budget releases: Pandora no Yume, Miss Moonlight, Memories Off Second, and Yoshia no Oka de Nekoronde.  Each of the DoriKore releases will retail for under $30.00.  Plus the

*Developer Grev has announced plans to port their recent Japan only NAOMI arcade shooter, Border Down, to Dreamcast with a release this Fall.  Plans for the Dreamcast version include added gameplay modes, like Practice and Remix, to increase longevity.  Two release versions of Border Down are planned: A normal-edition (just the game) package priced at 6,800 Yen and a limited-edition package (game with music soundtrack CD) priced at 8,800 Yen.  Border Down is only planned for Dreamcast meaning no PS2, Xbox, or GC versions and is scheduled for release in Japan on September 25th.6/30/03*
