I know what you're thinking. What in the world was I thinking when I decided to make a shrine dedicated to Inuyasha's youkai form? It's not nearly as far fetched and complicated as you might think. There were many reasons that attributed to the birth of this website, and for those of you curious enough to read through my rant and find out, I'll tell you.

I've been a fan of anime and all types of cartoons and animation as long as I can remember. There are generally two kinds of characters. The hero and the villain, it's as black and white as that. No gray area in between, which at times can and will make us loathe the characters we're supposed to be cheering for. The hero is usually kind hearted and subtly attractive, with a sense of naivety. This innocence they possess hides a giant will to do what it takes for the good of mankind, or to save their friends or whatever the story itself might be. The villain is cold and devious; though some are grand schemers sometimes there isn't much meat that can be applied to them as characters either. Case in point, we have the perfect hero, and the imperfect villain clashing for the fate of the universe as we know it. After an epiphany, the hero usually finds the strength to defeat the villain and then it's all over.

What I found fascinating about Inuyasha, was the fact that he is the imperfect hero. He is cocky and brash, sometimes doing things for his own benefit as opposed to helping others. Deep underneath his tough shell though is a heart that beats and would do anything for those he cares about. This is the Inuyasha that everyone that is a huge otaku of the show, and yes even the newbie’s, loves. This is the side of the silver-haired dog hanyou that is portrayed throughout the IY community. After being introduced to the anime and having built one or two other websites of interest I decided that I was a big enough fan to try and build a website dedicated to my favorite Anime/Manga. I searched all over the web, looking at the many different sites that were dedicated to the IY gang. A Sango dedication here, a Sesshoumaru fanlisting there, Inuyasha loves Kagome shrines everywhere. While I'm as big of a fan of Inu/Kag and Miro/San as anyone else, not to mention Inu/Kikyou, I wasn't sure at first if I should just add another site of that nature to the plethora of sites that are already out there. One thing that keeps people coming again and again to your website is originality. If you have one thing that the rest of the community doesn't have, they go to your site to find it. It's just common knowledge. For a while I had entertained the idea of building a shrine to the human side of Inuyasha, but it just never struck me as something that I wanted to do. Plus with a great site like Shingetsu: The Night of the New Moon, there was another reason for me to find another path to take. That was when it hit me...

Inuyasha is the imperfect hero. Once again, it is the softer side of him that is portrayed while deeper down there is a darker, deadlier side to him that does not have light shone onto it very often. Part of what makes Inuyasha who he is, isn't only the good heart hidden among the thorns of his self-assured attitude but it is also his violent tendencies and urges to taste the blood of others that completes him. Inuyasha was born a hanyou, in essence a humanlike youkai. So why is it that his human side is the one that gets all the glory? What of the powerful youkai that he had so dreamed of becoming after getting his hand on the Shikon No Tama? And thus this website was born; to shed some light on the darkness within... Because you cannot truly call yourself a fan of the character Inuyasha, unless you can fully appreciate both his human heart, as well as his malicious urges.
