Who is Inuyasha?
Inuyasha is the inu-hanyou (half dog-demon) in search of the shards of
the Shikon No Tama. He is the son of a noble Taiyoukai (great demon) and a
beautiful human princess. As a hanyou, he possesses youkai powers; as well as
fangs, claws and ears of a dog. However on the the night of
the Shingetsu (new moon), he loses his youkai powers and succumbs to his human
blood for the evening. In this form Inuyasha sees himself as being much weaker
than in his hanyou state, and his
human emotions have a tendency to get in the way; much to his dismay.
Why does Inuyasha transform into his youkai state when he's only a
hanyou?
Simple really. When Inuyasha is backed into a corner, and his life becomes
endangered, the youkai
blood of his father takes over in an effort to save his life. However,
Inuyasha's father was an extremely powerful youkai, and the blood of his
father is too much for Inuyasha's hanyou body. With repeated transformations
by his youkai blood, Inuyasha will eventually begin to lose his sense of self;
his human heart that sets him so far apart from other youkai. He will not
recognize who is a friend, who is an enemy and he will fight and kill until
his body is destroyed.
Not to mention he's dead sexy when he transforms! ^_^
