Episode 52:
Irresistible! The Youkai's True Nature
Spoiler
Gatenmaru is no more, strewn into pieces scattered across the
village. Terrified the bandits begin to flee, however they are no match for
Inuyasha's claws. Kagome calls out to the transformed hanyou, however not even
her voice can get through to him, he is so far gone.
A scene change here, to Rin, Aun and Jaken discussing the disappearance
of Sesshoumaru. The inu-youkai lord had been curious as to the scent change in
his younger brother, and had questioned the youkai tree Bokusenou about it in
the previous episode. Sesshoumaru had gone to see if what he had said was
indeed correct.
Inuyasha continues to massacre the bandits, til
all but three remain. Kagome grips Tessaiga with both hands and runs towards
Inuyasha hoping that if she gives him the fang that he will return to normal.
Out of nowhere, Sesshoumaru appears and taunts his younger brother to come at
him in his transformed state. With naught but the blood pounding in his ears,
Inuyasha attacks his elder brother who uses Toukijin slicing up the
transformed hanyou's arms severely. The battle continues, Sesshoumaru
evading Inuyasha's attacks with little to no effort. The youkai lord realizes
that even transformed as such, Inuyasha is still a hanyou. "You are only an
afflicted hanyou. Know your place. A hanyou should act like a hanyou, and lick
the ground!" He says as Inuyasha attacks him once more, Toukijin reacting with
sword pressure only. This causes Inuyasha to fly backwards and land into the
ground, stopped for the time being.
Kagome runs past Sesshoumaru, and collapses on Inuyasha's still body. She
looks back at the youkai lord, and threatens him not to come any closer, even
though she is only a human... she is willing to fight to protect him.
Sesshoumaru tells her to give Inuyasha Tessaiga, otherwise he will continue to
fight when he awakens. Sensing that Kagome is in trouble, Miroku, Sango and
Shippou jump in-between. Miroku questions Sesshoumaru's reasoning for not
killing Inuyasha, and the youkai lord has little to say on the matter before
he disappears.
Inuyasha soon regains consciousness, and the village women shun him because of
the blood bath he had turned their home into. Looking down at his claws,
Inuyasha is somber and begins to feel intense remorse for killing the bandits.
Later, beside the river bed Sango tells Miroku that no matter what she will
stand beside Inuyasha because he had always stood beside her even when she was
only concerned with chasing after Kohaku. Nearby, Kagome watches
Inuyasha splash around in the river trying to remove the stench of the
bandit's blood from his claws. As soon as he sits down on the river bed, she
offers him a towel; Inuyasha refuses it instantly. She sets it down in her
lap, and quietly sits beside him. Inuyasha tells her that she doesn't have to
force herself to be around him, causing her to give him a wide eyed, saddened
look. This frustrates Inuyasha, and he yells at her, "You all act as if
something's wrong! I'm sorry, but I don't give a damn what I did!"
Kagome can see right through him, and she knows that killing those bandits was
really eating at him. She rises to her knees and rests her head and hand on
his shoulder. Inuyasha looks surprised for a moment, before he rests his hand
atop hers, before thinking to himself.
~I can't remember what I did when I was transformed. That didn't happen
before. The next time I transform, my claws... they may rip you apart as well,
Kagome.~
