    The Rules of Snake Jo!

    Snake Jo currently holds the unanimous title of Best Variation of Jo

    First of all, the rules of Snake Jo follow all of the basic rules for Classic Jo, which you can find here.

    There is one special square that is different from the average Jo square in Snake Jo. It is the extender, marked as a small circle. For each one of these extenders that you pass over, you add 1 to your turn count, which starts at 1. During your turn, you must make as many moves as you have turn counts. So after passing over one extender, you make 2 moves a turn. These moves do not have to be in a straight line, they count as two totally seperate moves.

    This is quickly becoming one of the preferred methods to play 1 on 1 Jo. What makes it attractive is its choices that are offered you. You can choose (generally) to get really big, or stay small. If you get too big, then you burn squares very quickly, and when you end up in a secluded box, you lose. But if you stay too small, you run the risk of having your opponent run aroundthe front of you, killing you. There have been instances of players getting 9 moves a turn, and flying around opponents, killing them. But there have also been instances of players staying small, and managing to box themselves in. Then they only use one or two of their squares per turn, while the other player is burning 5.
