The gear linkageing created a big headache for Jason with having a single seater rail the gear shifter had to be put on the left hand side for more practical use, so you can just drop your left hand off the steering wheel to change gear when racing. The big problem was how to build a linkageing system so when you push the stick forward you get 1st, pull back to 2nd and also get the rotation movement on the shaft on the end of the gear box so when pushing the stick to the right and forward you select 3rd, straight back to 4th, when in neutral pushing the stick down, left and back for reverse. So jason thought long and hard he knew what he had to achieve but how? Jason asked Keith Felstead a seasond offroad racer with s.c.o.r.r uk who has built a single seater rail for himself, he said "it's a bl***y nightmare I would't bother, if I had to do one again I'd go and buy a selector unit ready made for the job".Back in the garage looking in (BUGPACK) catolouge "oh yes Jason I lent you that a year ago" Jason found a selector unit that they have designed. Like always my brother said I bet that's ****ing dear I'll make one! Three days later (hey presto) he's made one and I must say it works.A lot of thought has been put in to this part of the project well done Jason.
