Hope and Visions School-Ngomongo-presently occupies rented premises which comprises of 4 Classrooms and 1 Office. The school has grown by one class per year since we started. Our 'pioneer' students are now in Standard 1, which is the currently our highest class. We are frantically looking for an extra class where these Standard 1 Students will move to next year when they graduate to Standard 2. The youngest of our children are catered for in the Baby Class Here we currently have 15 children aged 1 to 3 years, We then have 10 children who are in our Nursery Class aged 3 to 4 years. Our pre-school class has 9 children aged 4 to 6 years while Standard 1 contains 8 children aged 6 to 7 years. Our school day runs from 8:30am and finishes at 3pm. Breakfast and lunch is provided for all the children, with the meals being prepared by one of the parents who offers her service for a small fee. A typical morning meal is porridge whilst lunch usually comprises of Rice and Mung beans (Pojo) or Cabbage and Potato depending which vegetable is in season. Running the school currently costs $715 per month
This gives a current cost of $17 per student per month. Some of the students families pay $4 per month to help with the running of the school. Hope and Vision school follows the same school calendar as public schools in Kenya, with a few small differences, There are three terms and three breaks.
