The Blue and the Deep

Water laps gently at the sky
In lilting horizon lullabies,
I hear a call to space and time-
Bidding me bye.  Goodbye.
The song they play
          at the edge of the earth
Falls off of the world,
          along with the surf,
And falling ships and falling stars
Follow the song as it slips to Mars.
The world curves down and drops out of sight;
The music twirls off of it, into the night.
I drift on the waves, drift off to sleep.
I'll wake with the sky, in the blue and the deep.
