RIDE ON!
Club Joe's Racing Diary
If your going to test your riding ability against other riders, most people would choose a easier course or maybe the course that they ride allot. But not the powerhouse Brian Kenady, He wanted to test his training techniques. He stepped up to the challenge and raced the next harder class, Sport, the difference between 10 miles and 15 miles. The sport class had 33 racers, 10 in the 19-29 age group, 11 in the 30 -39 group, and 12 in the 40+ group. Brian finished 8 in the 30-39 age group and 14th out of the entire sport class. Enough about the show off, the next person to do Extremely well was Mike Kenney, I think the Otter Creek Park race got him hooked or maybe he was so embarrassed with his finish he had to come back out and race. And race he did, Mike got a real good start, about 7th or 8th, real close behind the Bug man. When the Bug was blocked out by another racer and forced to crash, MIke was there to get around him. MIke finished 4th in the 30-39 age group and 6th out of the entire sport class. The Bug man got the best start of the entire sport team, 5th in the woods, on an outdated K2 hardtail that he put together out of spare or left over parts. When he charged another racer in a tight woody turn, the other rider stalled forcing bug to bail off his bike and roll down the hill, but that allowed MIke and another xtreme rider to slip past him, to never be seen again. June finished 6th in the 30-39 group and 9th out of the entire sport group. And last but least, I barely survived the course, but got a brief burst of energy when I saw a bug sliding down the hill, opening the way up for an easy pass, see ya. And then later when Mike was struggling to climb one of the many easy hills, I thought I was doing real good, but then MIke past me again, wouldn't let me around him again. I don't know why he wouldn't stop to let me catch up. I finished 2nd in my age group 19-29 and 7th out of the entire sport class of 33 racers.
