Date: Feb. 9, 2003 , 7:00pm Location: Dooley's Lounge In Attendance: Cory Guimond, Jeff Sweezey, Jason Howe, Peter Dignam, Jason Manuel, Leslie Hudgins Review of last Meetings Minutes: Since there were no prior meetings held, a discussion was held to determine the major points that needed to be covered. These are areas that were covered thus far: **Meet & Greet on Friday Evening--It was decided that the appropriate place to meet would be JMH High School Main Lounge. It was mentioned that we may be able to raise money by obtaining a liquor licence to sell alcohol on premises for this event. Leslie was responsible for contacting the school and District Office to obtain the proper paperwork, estimate of costs etc. No time was set, but it was thought that 6:30pm or so would be a a good time, and wrap up around 8-9pm, maybe later depending on the progress with the licence. Then we are to pack up and head down to Choo Choo's for further 'socialbles' , but everything is still tentative, and suggestions are welcome. **Kick off at Choo Choo's**--It was agreed that Jason H would look into the facilities for deals etc, No times were discussed, but was assumed until close :) . An alternative location was the Loggieville community Center. It was also agreed that finger foods were preferred over a full course meal on Friday night, so stuff like fingers, wings, stuffed mushrooms, skins, etc... Choo Choo's was discussed as the caterer as well as Dawn Bell, Mary Stewart...suggestions welcome. **Bay Du Vin Beach Day**--Saturday-It was mentioned that it might be fun if a boat ride from Bay Du Vin Wharf to Bay Du Vin Island was to be available. Cory G agreed to take on responsiblilty of finding enough big boats to accomodate the number of people that would turn out. The Boat rides would be going to and departing from the island every 1/2 hour or so, so that people would be able to leave whenever they felt like it. Cory also agreed to retain some insulated cratesfor the food and beverages that would be taken over there to the island. *It was mentioned that Duane S. should help out by donating his services for free. Stay tuned for that result! lol It was also agreed that a bus be made available for transportation to and from Bay du Vin Wharf to the high school, where we would assemble and park our cars to go down...or you can drive yourself ...it's up to yourself. Cory was to contact Irene Savoie to find out more details and costs etc... We are hoping we will be successful in finding local business to donate refreshments and prizes for this event as much as possible. Cory G--Cassidy's Beverages--Pop etc.. Jeff Sweezey/Jason Howe--Various Grocery stores for Hotdogs, Hamburgers, buns, Corn etc.... Jason/Jeff--Contacting Liquor Reps- **Main Event--Dance**Saturday--It was totally agreed that Manderson's KOA Campground was the ideal location for this event, b/c rain or shine, the location had adequate facilities to host a crowd. Jason M was contacting Peter Manderson for more information and availability and price the event. Cory was to contact Paulin from "Echo" to perform at the event. Leslie was to contact Ray and Randy McGrath from "Slow Sweet Ride". Jason M was also going to inquire about a block of tents for camping all night on Saturday. BYOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! **Brunch/BBQ &Family Day** Sunday--Since the KOA was the location for the Main event and camping, it was decided it would be ideal for the next day BBQ and events. Each could bring their own grub(Steaks, hotdogs/hamburgers, sausages etc..)to be cooked on the grills available on the campground. --A Second option was to have Schmitt's cater it, apparently it's really good. On site are: volleyball nets, mini putt, lots of field space for events, Beach for lounging ...Games and prizes would be available for the kids...as well as maybe a few events for the classmates!! It was also suggested that we could have a Sunday Brunch at the Rodd as an alternative to the BBQ. Jason H was contacting Rodd for more info. *****CONTACTS****** It was estimated that approx.60 people could be contacted just between the 6 of us in attendance. We will see how we make out by the next meeting, and from there, we will divide up the class list and start calling trying to track people down to inform them early enough so that people can plan for the time off if necessary. Miramichi's new FM Station 99.3 The River, was mentioned as a possible source for advertising this, as well as the paper. Jeff Sweezey offered to create and maintain a website where all grads can surf in and get the latest updates from the meetings , as well as give an updated list of confirmed contacted people, and once we start taking money, a list of confirmed people attending the reunion. Jeff also mentioned an idea to post the picture of the whole grad class from the quad, and as we make contact with people, put a little red X through their head, so people can see who is left to contact. WE NEED ALL THE HELP WE CAN GET! ****Committee Management Team**** Treasurer: Jason Manual 2nd Signing Officer: Jeff Sweezey Chairman: Cory Guimond Web page Designer: Jeff Sweezey ****Fund Raising vs Donations**** It was agreed that with everyone's busy everyday lives, it would be be too much work to fund raise etc, as efforts by past class reunion's was minimal and largely time consuming. It was decided that donations and Reunion ticket prices, along with smart decision making would be the best way to keep costs down. One significant fundraiser would be the sale of alcohol at the school Friday night, as well as maybe reunion t-shirts?? Local businesses and services are being contacted as well as advertising to see if there is interest is donating time, money, services to our cause. Further research is in progress. As soon as the minimal amount of funds are raised, we will open a "Trust Account" in the name of the graduation class of 1993 for operating costs for the weekend. ****AND FINALLY.....THE DATES OF THE REUNION**** It was decided/agreed that the date is set for the Class of 1993 Reunion to be: July 25th, 26th, 27th(Fri,Sat,Sun) --This date was chosen, as it is right inbetween 2 major summer time events that we thought most people might have planned to be home for. Those events being the Irish Festival weekend before, and the Bay Du Vin Days the following weekend. **We are sorry if this does not suit everybody, but we had to make a decision to start this ball rolling. **Next Meeting** We are in the process of calling more local people that we could come up with to help with the organization of all this, many hands make light work!! The next meeting will be the last 'open' meeting, so if you are interested, please attend, we need your help!! The next meeting is set to take place at Dooley's in Chatham at 7:00pm on Sunday February 23rd, 2003. Minute taker--Cory Guimond Revisions and web update--Jeff Sweezey Please come back as further updates and more sections will be added to the website....for right now, I'm going to bed!! ..cheers to all until next time!! night night :)
