Nazism – The ideology and practice of the Nazis, especially the
policy of racist nationalism, national expansion, and state control of the
economy. ·
Communism – A system of government in which the state plans and controls
the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to
make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally
shared by the people. ·
Treaty
of Versailles – Peace treaty signed at
the end of World War I between Germany and the Allies. ·

Republic – German republic that lasted from 1919 until 1933. ·

between the Allies and the Axis powers. ·

Major Allies: United States, Britain, France, Russia. ·
Rhineland –
A region along the Rhine River in western Germany. It includes noted vineyards
and highly industrial sections north of Bonn and Cologne. ·
