La Chicane was formed in the mid- to late-90's by Val D'Or natives Alain Villeneuve and Boom Desjardins. As a result of a local radio contest, it's remaining members, Eric Lemieux, Christian Legault, and Martin Bedard came together. They released their first album En catimini, in 1999. Alain decided to leave the group after this album and was replaced by Dany Bedar on bass. In 2000, La Chicane released Disparu. The group won the ADISQ award for group of the year for this album, which featured hits such as Tu peut partir, Tu m'manques (written by Dany), and Doris. Ready to begin his own solo career, Dany left the group. 2003 saw the release of the group's third and final album Ent'nous autres.
