The
country known today as Thailand has a history that spans several
hundred years, but it has been inhabited
for well over a thousand. Artifacts have been dated back to the
early dawn of the bronze age. Thailand's land
area measures approximately some 510,000 square kilometers or about
the same size as France. Thailand
is bordered by Mynmar (Burma), Laos, Vietnam and Malaysia. Today
it's inhabited by nearly 63 million people.
Thailand's earliest people were indigenous of the area made up of
a confederation of tribes. They found it
necessary to band together to defend against pressure from foreign
powers and neighboring enemies.
From these beginnings the foundations of Siam later to be known
as modern day Thailand flourished.
Although it may seem sweltering year round to the unaccustomed,
actually Thailand enjoys a tropical climate
with three distinct seasons: March through May - Rainy Season ,
June through September - Summer Season
October through February- Fall Season, The average annual temperature
is 28 C (83 F).

the subject of religion and the Thai culture, the major religion
by far is
Buddhism practiced by 90% of all Thais. The distinctive
rooftops of the Thai
temples called 'Wat' fill the landscape. The Thais are a very
devout people,
still, faiths from across the globe are welcomed and practiced
throughout
Thailand. The country shares a close relationship with the
peoples of China,
but still holds onto it's own unique cultural identity by
way of language, art,

Of all the southeastern Asian countries, Thailand is the only
country to never
have been subjugated by a foreign power. Thailand's King,
has the
distinction of being the longest continuos reigning monarch
in the world.
Bangkok, the capital of Thailand
holds the Guinness world record for the
