PJs Story - Page 16
WELCOME

I stood outside a large glass room
On the outside looking in
Tessi Terry and all my friends
Were waving from within

They were all having a party
But I couldn't hear there calls
I couldn't really hear them
Because of this glass wall

The more and more I shouted
I thought nobody cared
But all the folk inside the room
Were hearing every word

They shouted "Open up the door"
"You're welcome to come in"
But I couldn't find the key or lock
So I tried to smash it down

The more I smashed and kicked and hacked
The glass began to crack
I was thinking all the time
"I'll have to pay for that"

The party now seemed louder
I thought "I like the sound of that"
So I started smashing harder
Like some massive baseball bat

The music now was all in tune
I thought "That's really neat"
And to my surprise, inside the room
I could actually see me

The I took a look around
There was no glass to be seen
I sai to folk inside the room
"I didn't think you heard my screams"

They told me "We heard every word"
"But you didn't seem to know"
"That glass was yours and yours alone"
"But we're happy that it's gone"

"You won't have to pay for damage"
"Now that the wall has gone"
"Because all the time that you were smashing"
"You were cleaning, growing, getting strong"

The wall that kept me so shut off
was very strange affair
On my side it was ten miles high
But their side wasn't there

"We knew one day you'd find out
that the glass wall wasn't real
But buil by frightened people
Who are scared to love or feel

So now this barriers broken down
I'm welcome to stay here
Stay here on the inside
Wher it's safe to love and care

YOU & ME

Mothers say to children
Don't go near that man
They tell that we're "Loonies", "Nutters"
Or even that we're "Bad"

I hope someday they understand
What it's like to be "That man"
To fear their little children shouting
"Look there goes that bam"

To me it's quite upsetting
To be looked upon this way
I could never hurt anybody
Not ever No way

It's hard to even leave the hous
When you know that you are marked
With patronising people
Talking down as if I'm cracked

I wish that you could see us
As we really are
Instead of just some freak you've seen
On a video somewhere

The tabloids run a headline
"Psycho strike again"
That may be true for 2%
For 98% it isn't fair

Because of just one nutter
We're all treated the same way
We're not wanted in society
So we have to stay away

By forcing us ex-patients
To live outside real life
You're causing fear and isolation
And you're causing inner strife

By shutting out these people
You may cause what you fear most
Isolation turns to anger
And they just maybe explode

The way you say "These people"
Is enough to shut us out
"All we want is our human rights"
"And to have a little clout"

I wish that you could trust us
Even for a week
By that time you would understand
You are just the same as me.
