Patriot's Point Campout
Troop 89 spent the weekend and saw what it is like to be in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown at Patriot's Point Maritime Museum located in Charleston, South Carolina.  They were able to see many other Navy ships and aircraft.  They also took a fieldtrip to the aquarium.

Shooting Campout at Camp Shands
Troop 89 traveled to Camp Shands for a weekend of learning the skills and safety of shooting sports.  Thanks to the generosity of Mike Kelly and other instructors, the scouts were able to learn and experience target shooting with competitive .22 cal rifles and skeet & trap shooting with 12 gauge shotguns.
WILD ADVENTURES
Troop 89 attended the park's 'Scout Adventure Weekend' campout.
We tried a new trick on this page to be able to include more pics without making the page size too unbearably large and too long to load.  Hold your mouse over each picture for a few seconds (but don't click on it).
St. Mary's River Cleanup
Annual volunteer to help the efforts of 'The Nature Conservancy' in their annual 'St. Mary's River Cleanup'.  Also, a post-cleanup party/lunch hosted at White Oak Plantation.
Sapelo Island, Georgia Campout
We took the 30 minute ferry ride to the island and were dropped off by bus miles from any other living souls for two nights.  We had miles upon miles of beach and wilderness to ourselves for the weekend.
Okefenokee Swamp Canoe Trip and Campout
We launched our canoes from Stephen Foster Park north of Fargo, Georgia.  We then made the paddle to Mixon's Hammock in the middle of the swamp which was to be our home for the next two nights.  On the second day, we made a day-paddle to Billy's Island for a hike, exploration, and lunch.  This was a trip with lots of wildlife, adventures, stories, and fun.
2007 Shrimp Festival Parade
Annual tradition.  Takes place at 6:00pm the Thursday before the first weekend in May every year.
Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project
On their way to the rank of Eagle Scout, one of the requirements scouts must meet is to organize an 'Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project'.
While a 'Life Scout' he will plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project helpful to his religious institution, school, or community.  The project should benefit an organization other than the BSA.

Click on the title-links below to see some photos from the Eagle Projects completed by Troop 89 scouts on their way to Eagle Scout over the past year.  Again, please be patient.  Photos may take a moment to load.
Devon's Eagle Project
Devon coordinated all the efforts to build a playground for the children of Hope house and perform a considerable amount of landscaping of the property.
Christopher's Eagle Project
Christopher spent over 100 hours in 2 months collecting items and letters for care packages to send to our brave soldiers overseas.
Bill's Eagle Project
Bill organized efforts to improve the landscaping at Southside Elementary School.
Brandon's Eagle Project
These pics are actually from Brandon's 'Fund-raising' efforts which paid for his Eagle Project.  Brandon organized this car wash to raise funds to purchase materials to build an 'outdoor classroom' for a local school.
Matt's Eagle Project
Mat organized efforts to benefit 'Micah's Place', a local shelter for battered and abused wives and children.
The efforts included major landscaping improvements and assist in installing new playground equipment for the children.
