    Luxembourg in Winter

After the summer trip in Scandinavia, in winter we've been to Luxembourg We stayed there for three days. Luxembourg is not so big, but there are a lot of things to see, especially in winter when everything covered by snow...

Driving a car on snow is not easy, we took quite some time from Heist-op-den-Berg, Belgium to Luxembourg Our first stop is Clervaux.

    the big church

Then we arrived a beautiful small village by a river Esch-Sur-Sre. There is a ruin of a castle of top of a hill.

Because of the river, which is very wide in some place, this region is by far the most beautiful region I ever see in Luxembourg. You can also do some mountain walk, even in snow! We did it! Almost lost in the snow mountains, but finally we found our way back.

Bourscheid is a village nearby, where a very big castle located.

At that time of the year, most castles are closed, but...

In Vianden the big castle on top of a mountain was open. We were so glad to be able to visit it. Actually it is really worth paying a visit. In the castle you can find some history there. The castle was once almost totally destroyed early last century. People rebuited it afterwords. Now there is still some construction work going.

Beaufort is famous for its castle and its beautiful nature. It is nice to have a walk there. In the lake lives a swan and several her duck friends.

Echternach is famous for its big abbey. You can not have the whole abbey in your photo unless you are from the air.

    Abbey Saint-Willibord

Calstles everywhere in Luxembourg. In Bourglinster you can also see one which is rather like several houses. You must have an appointment before you visit inside.

Luxembourg city is not so big. You can easily walk from one side to the other. There are several big beautiful bridges linking two parts of the city which divided by a vallay.

The last day we visited Useldange, again a castle. There is just a ruin left. However you can climb up the high tower to look down the whole region.

A little big faster than walking, we drove back to Belgium in snow...
