Magic
"Magic is. It's all around you, it's like an invisible field that's everywhere. It is also sentient, alive; as an emmisary to the mortals and other humanoids that exist in Nir, magic split a piece of itself off, and formed it in a generally humanoid shape, to become what is know known as the Mistress of Magic. This goddess of magic is worshipped by mortals like any other deity, but in truth, this goddess does not actually have direct power over magic, it simply grants access to it to all those who have the ability to tap into magic. As far as magic is concerned, this piece of itself is its "child". Like a son meekly asks a father for a gift, so does the goddess of magic ask magic itself to make changes that may be appropriate. Magic is the energy that powers spells, but the Mistress of Magic is what controlls the flow of magic, allowing mortals and other creatures the use of magic."

When the original gods found Nir, they did not realize they stumbled onto a place of pure magic.  Nir took a humanoid shape to greet the three deities, and that shape became known as the Mistress of Magic.  It was her who taught the gods how to use their divine powers in Nir and channel that energy to other creatures.  She also taught the gods the power of granting other creatures divine magic, and assisted the gods in the creation of the planes.

For thousands upon thousands of years, the Mistress did not grant arcane magic to many creatures, and it was not until the end of the Aeon of Worship that she allowed mortals to grab at the arcane arts.  Divine magic has always been channeled through the deities, and psionics are a gift directly from Nir to those who have the minds to use it.  Arcane magic is given to mortals through the Mistress's allowance.

The
Pantheon of Magic contains all of the deities who have dominion over magic.
