I use this Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to manage the data used in lighting design. One feature that helps me to work fast when time is really crunched is the Dimmer Auto-Calculation. Check it out.
Add instruments to the Inventory page (be sure to include wattage). Then use the pull down menus on the Schedules page to add one of these instruments to a location/dimmer. Now go to the Dimmer loads page. Viola. The spreadsheet calculated the value and placed it here. Now that doesn't seem like much, but when you are called in late to work on a project and time is of the essence you just might find yourself doing hookup and paperwork all at the same time. This little feature makes that easier and faster, since the unused dimmers are RED they just pop out at you, now you know what is available.
