article concerning 1981 exhumation of Oswald following legal
wrangling involving widow Marina, British author Michael Eddowes and Lees
brother Robert. Eddowes 1977
The
Oswald File proposed the real Oswald who defected to the USSR had
been replaced by a look-alike Russian agent. Eddowes cited inconsistencies
in Oswalds height and medical history prior to detection as compared
to his 1963 autopsy. Dallas forensic expert Linda E. Norton headed the team
assigned to re-examine Oswald. Finding the body badly decomposed due to
a cracked vault, they removed the head and examined it outside the casket.
Dental record identification established that the remains were indeed that
of Oswald. They also noted craniotomy saw marks and the mastoidectomy defect,
items which were or are now in dispute.
