SILICON COCHLEA MODELS

The fundamental structure in a cochlea is the basilar membrane. So, the silicon cochlea model is based on the function of the silicon basilar membrane. The silicon basilar membrane is a transmission line constructed by the second-order sections in cascade. The differentiator is connected to the output of the second-order sections. The output of differentiator is called the taps. We can think about the differentiator as crude inner hair cells, and observe the signal from the taps. The silicon cochlea model is illustrated in the figure below. If you want to see more detail, please click on picture.

In this silicon cochlea model, we can input test signal and nature world sounds, and we can observe its output in frequency domain. For more detail, see the model result.

In this project, I only build the 50 output taps of the silicon cochlea model for analysis. I first build the basic block of the silicon cochlea model, second-order section with differentiator. Then I calculate the time constant for different sections and calculate frequency response of each sections in cascade and plot out 25 output for observation.
