POISON'S
Lead Guitar, Vocals
Bruce Anthony Johansen
Born May 14
in Brooklyn, NY
Cc's first musical performance was at a Jr. High talent show were he did "Johnny B Goode". He still has the guitar as he says it's an heirloom he can look at and remember good times. His former jobs were a taxi driver and a delivery man for a printing company, but playing guitar is a passion for CC. He has well over 300 guitars and has played in other bands such as "Screamin' Mimis" and even pre-religious "Stryper". His musical influences are Eddie Van Halen and Jimmy Page as well as Eric Clapton and others.
CC left home for LA and there he read an ad about a group needing a guitarist. That group was POISON. CC was the 56th guitarist to audition. In the end it was between him and Slash (GNR). Though the choice wasn't easy for Bret at first, he gave in and band history was made.
In the early 90's, CC, like many other celebrities, got caught up in drug addiction and alcohol abuse. He left POISON a couple times after several disagreements with Bret. In '96 he decided it was time to get help and move on with life. Even though sobering up caused major weight gain, he continued to fight the cravings and conquered his addictions as well as the weight he gained.
CC had a solo band called "Samantha 7". Although that band is no longer together, you can still check out their website along with a few fan sites. Besure to visit Planet DeVille as it has lots of information about CC, POISON's Axeman.
CC QUOTES:
"I'm open minded about success. If things don't work out, I'm cool. I'll throw myself off a balcony"
"It's those raw moments that make a rock-n-roll band. You can't just sit down and create it. You have to live through emotions and experiences"

CC has overcome many obstacles in his life. Addiction is not an easy thing to rise above. I admire CC for his courage. He is the most under-rated guitarist in the biz and is an inspiration to many fans. Check out other fan sites for more information on this courageous, funny, and gifted guitarist. And if you or someone you know have a drug or alcohol problem, please visit the links above and seek help. Everybody is loved by somebody.
