Iowa State post player Paul Shirley was the Dodge City Legend's first pick in the 2001 USBL Draft.
But it was the second pick -- Jackie Stiles -- who brought the most noise from the draft party crowd.

Stiles, a 5-9 guard who played high school ball at Claflin and college ball at Southwest Missouri State, has family involved in the Legend ownership and attended Legend games last season.
"I was definitely shocked and very surprised," said Stiles from Springfield, Mo., about her being picked by the Legend. "It's definitely an honor to be drafted by the Legend and it's something that I never will forget."

Stiles led the NCAA in career scoring (3,393 points) and for a season (1,040)
in helping Southwest Missouri State to the Missouri Valley Conference championship,
the NCAA West regional
championship and a place in the Final Four.
Legend general manager Tom Nelson was also excited about Stiles coming in for training camp later this month.
"Jackie Stiles is an unbelievable athlete and a better person," said Nelson. "After talking with her about the draft, she was very excited about the possibilities of joining the Legend in some capacity.
"It's been something we've had something we've had in our mind since last year. She's done a lot for women's basketball in general. There will be some publicity out of it, but this is to honor Jackie."
She was named to the Associated Press All-American first team and was named player of the year by ESPN and the Women's Basketball News Service.
Stiles joins Nancy Lieberman-Cline, Saudia Roundtree, Cheryl Miller, Sheryl Swoopes and Rebecca Lobo who have been drafted by USBL teams.
"It's hard to imagine my name with theirs because I have incredible respect for what they can do on the court," said Stiles. "I have always looked up to those players, so it's definitely very exciting for me."
