This play is a charming musical version of best-loved fairy tales that was commissioned and presented at Robert Redford's Sundance Theatre and acclaimed as "a play that has become family theatre's favorite around the country."
It begins and ends with the story of the princess who wouldn't laugh, and on the way there is also The Shoemaker and the Elves, The Bremen Town Musicians and The Golden Goose. The play encourages imagination and make-believe, two commodities absent in our children's world today, where everything is graphically presented and where fantasy is largely dominated by violence. With humor and song, our fairy tales leave to children's imagination what the story reveals about life and human nature, and how they can apply it to themselves.
