Fishing is a great way to pass a Saturday back at home when it isn't hunting season hunting season or racing Saturday's. Fishing became one of my favorite things to do because I use to live about one minute from the water. As a kid I would grab my five gallon bucket and a chair and go down by the bayou and try to catch some Cat fish. This usually wasn't to hard to do because my home town, Des Allemands, holds the title of ,"Catfish Capitol of the World." Not bad for a town with one red light and one gas station. As the time passed, cat fishing became to easy, so I started fishing Bass and Red fish. It took me a good while to develop the skills needed to fish these intelligent fish, but after I knew what I was doing, it was great. Bass fishing blew Cat fishing out of the water. It doesn't get much funner than reeling in a big Bass. Another thing that made this type of fishing better is the fact that you were in a boat exploring all the little canals trying to find the best the best Bass spot. Cat fishing is a more laid back type of fishing because you just leave your line in the water until the Cat fish finds it, but with Bass and Red fishing, the Bass stay in the water until your line finds them.

Fishing is exciting because it's a challenge. Not just anybody can go cast a line in the water and catch a fish, at least not a fish worth catching. What I mean by that is not just anyone can go and throw a line in the water and catch a Bass. Bass require knowing how to catch them to be able to catch them. With Perch and Catfish you can pretty much drop your line in the water at the right time and pull up a fish. On the other hand, with Bass, Red fish and other real intelligent fish, your bait must look and move through the water as if it were real. When you Perch fish and Cat fish, you pretty much let your line sit in the water until the fish find it, but with smart fish you have to continually cast and real in your line with a series of pops and drags which attract the fish. This type of fishing normally requires a boat to get to where the fish are, which also makes the whole fishing experience better. This type of fishing takes a while to get used to. Even to real experienced Bass fishers, it's hard to catch a real nice Bass. I've only caught one real nice Bass and I got it mounted. Catching a nice Bass in the fishing world is like killing a twelve point buck in the hunting world.
