| Lavos Beckons At the end of the hall, you will be talked to. Crono will throw the Ruby Knife, which happens to be the Masamune in the old form (remember back in 1000 AD when you asked how Melchior knew about the Masamune? This is how!). You will then go in a fight where you must lose. There will be a long sequence where it shows Magus is the Prophet and tries to destroy Lavos, but fails too. Crono gets up and uses him as a sacrifice and does a dramatic death, stalling Lavos. Schala will then send you out of the palace, to somewhere else. Zeal is then broken down. With Crono gone, you must replace him with someone else. I take a team of Frog, Ayla, and Marle. The Last Village Walk outside and find that the Dark Ages has turned into only 1 island. You can go and buy some from the huts near you. You can't get out of this time period yet since you can't reach the Epoch. Enter the commons. Next, talk to the old guy in the back of the Commons and you will be attacked by Dalton...again. After a lot of crud, Dalton will knock you out and put you in a jail cell...somewhere. The Blackbird You will wake up and you will learn that everything has been stolen from you. Every person's equipment, items, and your money. Climb the ladder in your cell to find that you are on the Blackbird, that one plane that was docked at Zeal. Go back inside and Ayla will sense wind coming out of a hole in your cell. Break out of jail this way to enter the air ducts. Find one of your peoples equipment in one of the rooms using these air ducts. Be sure to find your stuff, especially if you have Frog with the Masamune. Now on this plane, there are rooms are guards lurking about, and if you get caught without anybody to fight...I don't know what happens (I bring Ayla, and she doesn't need a weapon to fight). The other items are in chests on this place. No matter what, you should grab all the missing things. When you're done, go through the door that's in the room with the chest of items and walk to the left of the Blackbird to run into a boss. This is the Golem Boss, and he's pretty stupid. He'll start counting down from 5 for an attack, but he can't count that far. Then he'll get scared and won't fight at all. After a while, it'll die. Meanwhile, Dalton is adding wings to the Epoch (This is a hilarious scene). Then Dalton will come out with the Epoch and fire lasers. You will then have to fight Dalton, who will use a lot of Iron Orbs but still will die easy. Next you get to for the first and only time fire lasers from the Epoch. They will destroy the Blackbird, which makes everybody happy. Marle will then say that she will go look for Crono. Of course, you must have her in your party. I recommend taking Frog for this next part. Magus/Janus First, go back to the commons and tell a lady of Zeal to plant a brown sapling near her with hope. Leave the commons and now go to the North Cape, in the northwest corner of the island. Save before entering. Enter and find a glowing blue dot. Press A on it and Magus will appear. He will talk about his plan in Zeal and how it's only drawback made him lose. He will also reveal that he is Janus, that kid with the cat and how he got to the Middle Ages. He will start insulting Crono, and you will then have a choice: kill him, or spare him so he will join your party. If you decide to kill him, you are in for a hard battle: Magus is very strong and fast. If you do manage to kill him, he will gasp a couple of words (if you want crono back, find Guru Gaspar) and leave behind the amulet Schala gave him. If you join him, he will join your party, which will then be much more powerful in the magical side. In order for him to join your party, you must try and leave the place and he will stop you to give info on how to revive Crono. Anyway, once you are done with this Magus stuff, you can do a couple Sub-Quests, which will help you power up your party members and ever revive Crono for The Battle against Lavos. |
