The University of Cincinnati

Welcome to my small dedication to one of my favourite places in the world - The University of Cincinnati. I currently have senior standing, but I don't anticipate graduating until spring of 2002. Why so long? Well, for one, I put off those damn science requirements. :-) Secondly, I tend to take only four or five classes a quarter because of working full time. And finally, I'm in one of those very popular majors where it is impossible to get any of the classes that you really need. I have been a student at UC since I was sixteen years old, and this is the place that helped me define myself. There is quite literally something for everyone here.

UC is the summation of what a college experience should be. The campus is located in historic Clifton, which is the perfect college student hangout. The town is swarming with things to do. Visit Short Vine to catch a show at Bogarts, eat dinner at the best Skyline in the city on the corner of Clifton and Ludlow, stop in Graeters for the best coffee ice cream in the world, roam the streets of the beautiful Gaslight District, with it's huge mansions and beautiful architechture. If you're looking for excitement, visit Vertigo in the University Plaza on Friday or Saturday night to catch the male strip show. :-) *Highly Recommended.* Also, don't forget to visit Highlands on the corner of Highland and East University- It's the best coffee house in Clifton.

But enough of the surrounding areas. Let me give you a little information on the University itself. UC is a public institution of higher education. Pu blic = cheap. :-) Always a plus when making that important college decision. But just because it is a public school does not mean that you'll gain less of an education. UC is one of the best public schools in the nation. We're most famous for our outstanding DAAP (Design, Architechture, Art & Planning) school, the College Conservatory or Music (home of many past and future Broadway stars), The College of Business Administration, our Engineering School, The Schoool of Education, and one of the best medical programs in the country.

Aside from these major schools within the University, one cannot overlook the other programs that UC offers. In fact, there are hundreds of majors to choose from. If ever you dreamed of going to college, UC is more than likely to help you accomplish your goals. As the motto says "All dreams are welcome here."

One aspect that I love so much about UC is how large it is. With nearly 40,000 students, you're going to encounter more people here than you probably will for the rest of your life. It's a fully diverse campus, and meeting people is easy with the number of clubs and activities that UC offers to the students. Other assets include wonderful sports teams (NCAA Division I), classes offered at all hours of the day, and the wonderful events you can always find happening on McMicken Commons. Be sure to pick up a current copy of The News Record to find out about other upcoming events, public speakers, and general university news.

I cannot fully show the wonderful aspects of this University here on this webpage. It would take too much time to explain all that UC has to offer to prospective students. Instead, I urge you to visit their homepage- The University of Cincinnati. Here, you can learn more about the history of the University, the programs that they offer, and request information or an application. See ya around campus... I can be found most of the time in Teacher College, or cutting class and enjoying a sunny day out on the commons.
