My Hobbies

Well, if ya got here from the link on the index page, you've already got an idea of one of my favorite hobbies. :-)

Nope... I don't really like chocolate that much. But I love to kiss. :-) By far one of the best pasttimes in the world.

Okay, time to be a little bit more serious. Aside from kissing, I do have other hobbies. If you ask any of my friends, the one that they'll probably list straight off is "Shopping." I love to shop. :-) It doesn't matter if it is for clothes, CDs, shoes, gifts, even groceries. I don't care what it's for, I just love to shop. Now, if I could just find a job that would pay me a little more so that I could indulge in this habit as frequently as I'd like. :-)

Well, if you've looked at any of the other pages on my homepage, you can probably guess that another one of my favorite hobbies is to write. I love to write poetry, but I'm also very fond of writing other types of works- Short stories, reviews, essays, plays, etc. If I find some time, I may add some of those works on to this page at a later time. Check back. :-)

Hand in hand with writing, I love to read. My two favourite authors are Dean Koontz and John Grishman. I've also recently become very interested in the work of Michael Crichton. If you've never read their work, I must ask "What planet are you from?" Get your butt off the computer and out to Borders right away and pick up some of their works. My two favourites are "Lightning" and "Watchers," both by Koontz. His works are very diverse, ranging from paranormal to those strange "What-if" situations. Grisham is more of a legal-thriller writer, and there is a good chance that you may have seen some of his novels on the big screen, such as "The Client," "The Firm," "The Chamber," "A Time To Kill," or others. Read the books instead. The movies usually suck (Especially "The Chamber." That was just a rotten adaption.) Thus far, I've only read two Crichton books, "Timeline," and "The Great Train Robbery," and both were excellent.

Another thing that I absolutely love is to travel. As much as I love Cincinnati, it's always thrilling to visit a new city, to meet new people and experience the different lifestyles. Some of my favourite vacation spots are:

In the summer of 2000, I took the trip of a lifetime to Italy. I went with twelve other people from school, and it was amazing beyond all description. The country is absolutely beautiful. We stayed there for three and a half weeks. The majority of the trip was spent in Firenze (Florence), but we also visited: Pisa, Viareggio, Fiesole, Assisi, Lucca, San Gimignano, and Venezia (Venice.) One of the best parts of the trip was riding the trains to the other cities because you got to see so much of the amazing country side. The cities are so old, so elegant, and so overwhelming. I'm hoping to soon add a page dedicated entirely to the trip.

Of course, there are those places that I haven't visited yet that I would still love to see- Boston, New Orleans, Australia, France, England, Denver, Moscow, Toronto, Los Angeles... In fact, I think I'd love to just travel the world and see as many things as I could. If you ever need a traveling parter, e-mail me! :-)

Music is another one of my passions. Anyone who knows me, knows that my favorite performer is Céline Dion.

Check out her latest album, "All The Way- A Decade of Song." It's a greatest hits album with seven new songs. I've been fortunate enough to see Celine in concert ten times over the last few years, including the incredible New Years Eve 1999 show, her final performance before her sabattical. Also, I had the absolute pleasure of meeting her in person early in the wee hours of the morning on September 15, 1998.

Aside from Céline, my other favourite performers are Sarah McLachlan, Aerosmith, Bruce Springsteen, and Shania Twain. Check out my links page for more information on them and Céline.

Art has always been something that I have had a great interest in. My favourite artist was the master Post-Impressionist, Vincent Van Gogh. I've taken many art classes and studied the history of art, and aside from Post-Impressionism, some of the movements I enjoy the most are Gothic, Classical, Modern, and Impressionism. One of the best parts of going to NYC and Italy was seeing the wonderful museums filled with the most farmous works of art in the world. I also enjoy creating art myself, although I'm not very good at it. But, it's a form of expression, and if you only learn one thing about me from this entire webpage, it's that I love to express myself. :-)

So what are some other things that I like to do? I like being outdoors and being active. I love to cook, although my creations never seem to turn out quite as well as I intend for them to. I like to paint ceramics and to take photographs. I love to drive around in my convertible Mustang with the music blaring. :) I collect candles and picture frames. I love to have deep, meaningful conversations. I have an incredible thirst for knowledge. I like to go dancing with my friends. I used to really enjoy playing the piano and the drums, but since moving out on my own, I don't have room for those anymore. Aside from all these things, I mostly just love to have fun. :-) Simple, eh?
