RELEFORD GRANVILLE CARTER: b. 22 Aug 1852 Fulton Co., IL, d. 20 Oct 1929 York, York, NE, married Martha Jane TALLY on 5 Nov 1873, in McDonough Co., IL. He was a Preacher, his parents are: Simeon Lewis CARTER and Amanda Jane LINN. Martha's parents are: Alexander TALLY and Rebecca MESSICK. Releford and Martha had 9 children: 1. William CARTER, b. 18 Sep 1874, d. 1 May 1880 and is buried in Friend, Saline, NE; 2. Albert T. CARTER, b. 20 June 1877 and d. 5 Mar 1880 York, YOrk, NE buried in Friend , NE; 3. Viola May CARTER, b. 5 May 1878 Seward Co., NE, d. 21 June 1954 in Lexington, Dawson, NE, buried Fairbury, Jerfferson, NE, she married Fredrick Elwood DEFFER 3 Mar 1897 UKN; 4. I have a copy of an orignial marriage license for the above couple. They were married in State of Illinois, McDonough County, Releford G. CARTER to Martha TALLY on the 4th day of November 1871, witnesses, Quinton C. Ward, Clerk of the County.
