IT 270 Final Project

Documentation of the Development Process

This website is for a fictional bike rental company that was created based on some of the local rental companies that are scattered along the Gulf coast. I had to start with the idea of this rental company. From there I began to design the basic layout each page. I didn't want to create a text heavy website, but one that is visually appealing. I made sure that the most important information that a potential customer would be looking for was easily accessible. It was easy to be able to include images, tables, and forms. I just had to be sure to use them in a way that made sense and didn’t distract from the message of the webpage.

Defense of the Final Product

I made specific choices for this website that would help create the message of the business. Every choice I made was to engage, but not distract the viewer. I made sure to include pictures of individuals and families riding bikes on the beach. I used simple colors that would be found in a beach setting. I just used a basic font with minimal changes so that the information would be easy to read.

Opportunities for Improvement and Growth

I would like to add additional pages to the website. I wanted to add a form for the customer to make a reservation request through the website. I would like to include more information about some services that the business could offer. I think the website could benefit from links to other local businesses. If I could add graphics and other images without making the website too busy, I think that would be something that might be visually appealing. Although, I do think the website benefits from simplicity.
