i'm back. i haven't slept since i left new jersey early yesterday evening, but whatever. some of us have classes to attend (bwa ha ha)..
i'm a bit in love with the song "across the universe." i have three different covers looped. i am incredibly curious to look inside rufus wainwright's mouth to figure out how exactly his cheeks and teeth and saliva are producing that rufus sound to come out. hmm.
all went well, except the weather. i ended up only shooting about 36 pictures. oops. i just didn't feel comfortable forcing gene or garbo (yes, pseud.) to stop every three seconds to have me drag out the camera, possibly change lense, find the right angle, snap, put gear back. oh well.
we saw janeane garofalo perform. she was very, very funny. i feared i actually ruptured tissue inside my belly by laughing too hard as she painted a picture of the backstreet boys, strung up and hovering over their child-audience, tea-bagging them as they swung by.. heh!
me and garbo bought a plastic sunflower each. you wouldn't believe what a conversation starter it is to carry a simple, bright yellow plastic flower around. i had no idea.
i also got her to buy a plastic potato. i figured that since it was saint patrick's day, she could always throw it at obnoxious drunk irishmen and we'd yell: "remember the famine!!" .. or she could hand it to some cute guy and proclaim him to be "one hot potato".. heh. it was a quarter. must-buy.
apparently a store of atrocious clothing was going out of business in the village, selling everything for $2 each. i bought a goldy shirt and a red swirly skirt. we'll see if i can ever actually fit into either of them. at least i have a receipt that i bought the stuff from a store called "dick." it's the little things that does it.
i saw the singer of the cars, ric ocasek. no, really, i saw him on the street. it was most bizarre, especially since i have very little grasp of the cars as a band. he was taller than i thought (much like lou reed was shorter than i thought when i saw him at my last visit to the village last spring).
i got a lot of random compliments. if last spring break was filled with crazy people, this was apparently "be nice to jennie" week. me and garbo watched 4 guys breakdance to a huge, spontaneous audience at washington square park.
i managed to get hug-attacked by one of the dancers (he mistakenly thought i could high five. i cannot. he fell over me. so pathetic.) and the other pronounced: "girl, i see you, i see you!" before leaping across the stone floor and doing some break move. whatever.
it was a good visit, but less full of specific events. hung out at a few bars, i think? in brooklyn. yeeeeah, brooklyn! saw firehouses with black flags on their facades. got addicted to "six feet under". bought an indian necklace on sale. that type of thing.
i'm a bit tired right now. so. cin cin. need to rest up before my french class.
