yes indeed--this will be short, because i'm having a ridiculously hard time typing and manneuvering around on gene's little laptop, but i wanted to give a life sign.
greyhounding was full of delays and bad seating and pretzeled spine and whiny people, but i finally ended up in a horridly cold and rainy newark, new jersey yesterday morning for gene to pivk up. :)
we spent the day doing little things--i bought some black and white film, he gave me a pair of adidas sneakers (i seriously needed new shoes and it seems gene is my shoe-fairy, this is the third pair of shoes he's passed along since i got to know him. it's good we have similar size, albeit completely differently shaped feet. mine are freak, his are just fine.)..
we went and saw gosford park -- it's very good, but as usual it was difficult hearing all the dialogue (thanks to altman's trademark "what the mic picks up, it picks up.." style and low volume on the sound system) and a lot of characters were unevenly developed, but it was good, though repeat viewing to figure them all out is probably needed.
i think we're going to the metropolitan museum today. they apparently have madonna's pointy bra on display. what a must see. really. :) it's great getting to hang out with gene in a relaxed way, and i'm looking forward to the weekend (friday: janeane garofalo! saturday: saint patrick's day parade! sunday: possibly go see the upright citizen's brigade!)
