bus tales

the bank's main system was down when i tried to cash my checks. it took half an hour of calling and talking with every possible staff member in the bank before they were able to find my account number and figure out how to bypass a bunch of rules properly before a lady came back with a hot little bunch of bills for me. but i got it. wee.

i celebrated with a raid at my old record store where they still know my name. three cds and ten dollars later i walked out again. i got the amanda ghost cd i liked at angela's, a $2 shakespeare sister cd (stay! hello!) and a $1 swedish guy's cd with one song i like. pleased.

ate cheap paper plate asian food at the place where they used to know my name. caught a bus to wal-mart. tried to find a giovanni ribisi video to buy. is it depressing to see how nowadays videos get maybe one shelf and dvd's have 300 shelves at best buy and wal-mart and all or what? oh well. can't argue with the drop in price.

bought a $5 watch (necklace watch! ha ha!), more underwear, more socks (more laundry!)... missed a bus. talked to an irish girl who wants to cure cancer one day. we revelled in our european identities and shared head-shakes over american money (we don't get why all bills are the same size, color and design. it just seems impractical.).. then her bus came.

got on my bus to get to my video store. rented the other sister so i could get some more giovanni ribisi. on the bus home i talked to a lady who bellowed "i've been there!" when i mentioned sweden. i don't know why i always end up sharing that i'm from sweden, heh. anyhow. she told me how she used to run a salon on an army base in germany for ten years but had to come back to america when her father was dying. on her way home the airplane blew an engine and had to emergency land. during the delay, her father died. the next week, she watched that same airplane crash someplace. she doesn't fly anymore.

today i took a bus and saw don't say a word. for once, i bought popcorn and soda and twizzlers for the experience. it was very entertaining. it was worth it. yes. recommended. not brilliant. entertaining. good brittany murphy chick. and i'm a sean bean fan. i have no idea why.

i went shopping. i bought a plant. a plant! yes. it's called a pothos plant (epipremnum aureum).. just a leafy house plant. i miss plants. it made me happy to buy it. so. i did. and a really small, cute, orange ornament gourd - like a miniature pumpkin. that made me even happier. i'm all for plant life in my room. a few bags of cookies, cups of cinnamon applesauce and a blueberry yogurt later, i was back on a bus.

and boy, was i ever stuck on that bus. rowdy annoying teenagers argued with the bus driver over some transfers. he called the cops (as he is supposed to).. while they were all off the bus, talking to the cops, one of them snuck back and stole a transfer. then, suddenly, the cops left and everyone came back on. two minutes later, the bus driver discovered the transfer theft. stopped the bus. called the cops again. more arguing. stomping about. "man, we di'nt steal nothin!" .. i didn't say anything.

before the cops got there, they stepped off the bus and walked across the street. picked up a few rocks. aimed at the bus. lights flashing. cops. more arguing. finaly, after an hour, we were back on the road. i felt so sorry for the elderly couple who had gotten on at the same stop as i did. they had been on a date to the movies and were very happy. now they were just sitting there, stone faced and separate.

i got off the bus. now i'm taking my plant and gourd and cookies home. cin cin. 9:30 p.m.
